About

Why we made CNTRL P

We run Siddament, a filament store in Sydney. Two things about imported filament kept biting us, so we started making our own. CNTRL P is that filament.

What kept going wrong

Almost all filament sold here is made overseas and shipped in bulk to an Australian warehouse. That works until it doesn't.

A sold-out colour is months away rather than days, because the next run has to be made offshore and put on a boat. And the spec drifts between runs. The black you bought in March is not quite the black you get in September.

None of that is the importer's fault. If you didn't make it, you can't fix it, and changing suppliers only moves the problem. We still import the brands people ask for. We just started making our own as well.

What we make

CNTRL P is extruded in Sydney. The launch range is deliberately small: PLA, PETG, ABS and ASA in black and white, plus two carbon fibre grades, ASA-CF and PC-CF.

Black and white aren't a placeholder. They cover most real work, and they're the easiest to hold consistent from run to run, so they're the right place to start while the line settles. Colours follow once that's solid.

How we do it

Who is behind it

CNTRL P is made by Siddament, a filament business in Sydney. Siddament and our stockists handle the selling, the shipping, the support and the returns. We make the filament.
